OUR BELIEFS
Any time a group of Christians join together, you can expect differences in belief and practice. But it’s also vital that every local body of believers has a set of core beliefs that guide its conduct and convictions, both individually and corporately. Therefore, our guiding principle of fellowship is, “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things love.”
God’s Word
The Word of God is God’s perfect love letter for the church, bringing the church into a deeper understanding of His love and ways. All 66 books of the Bible are the inspired, inerrant Word of God. It is the final authority for Christian faith and living. Psalm 1:1-3; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Philippians 3:10; Hebrews 4:12; John 4:23-24
God’s Identity
Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son, fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died and was buried as a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. He rose from the dead and returned to heaven. God exists eternally in three equal though distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He has revealed Himself as perfect in love and the Creator of all. John 1:1-5; 8:58; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 John 5:7
God’s Forgiveness
There is no sin or act that is so grievous that God, by His grace and love, is not able to forgive and bring the person into relationship with Himself. Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-12; John 4
God’s People
The love of God in Christ is available to every person, to know and experience by faith. John 3:16-17; 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9
God’s Church
People who have been radically changed by the grace and forgiveness of God, and who now live in a love relationship with Him and each other are what is called the Body of Christ, the church. Hebrews 10:24-25; John 13:34-35; Acts 4:23-24
God’s Equipping
The local church is to disciple (grow each person to maturity) and equip (prepare and train) its members for the ministries to which God has called all church members to serve. Colossians 1:28-29; Ephesians 4:11-12; John 21:15-19
God’s Ordinances
We believe the two ordinances of the Church are baptism by immersion by the authority of the local church, and the Lord’s Supper. Matthew 3:13-17; 22:26-30; 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16, 21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12
